Scholarship Coverage

The ETH Zurich Scholarship offers two distinct scholarships:

1. Excellence Scholarship/ESOP: This covers living and study expenses (CHF 12,000 per semester) and includes a tuition fee waiver.
2. ETH-​D Scholarship: This scholarship provides support for living and study expenses (CHF 7,500 per semester), along with a tuition fee waiver. Additionally, the department may offer a scholarship of CHF 3,000 per semester or an assistantship (with a monthly payment of CHF 500 – 600). In Zurich, it covers the required CHF 21,000/year for the migration office (in Basel at D-​BSSE, it covers CHF 24,000).

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the ETH Zurich Excellence Masters Scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Required Language: English
• Eligible Countries: All countries worldwide
• A very good result in their Bachelor’s degree (top 10% of Bachelor’s program = grade A)
• Availability for a phone/VC interview in February (make sure to provide a reachable telephone number in your CV)

How to Apply

Follow these steps to apply for the ETH Zurich Scholarship:

1. ESOP and ETH-​D Scholarships applications are submitted via eApply (online Master application).
2. If you’re applying for more than one Master’s program, submit a separate application for each degree program.
3. Along with the Master admission documents, upload a pre-proposal for your master’s thesis.
4. Develop the pre-proposal for the Master’s thesis independently, using established scientific citation practices.
5. Avoid plagiarism and any misinformation, as these may result in exclusion from the admission process or, if discovered later, the revocation of admission and any scholarship.
6. If your study program does not require references, provide the names of two reference persons for your ESOP application.
