About this program

Bachelor of Sports Studies, Expertise in Northern Outdoor Sports and Guidance is a 210-ECTS degree at Lapland University of Applied Sciences. The course focuses on outdoor leadership, risk management, client-centred guiding, leadership, safety, sustainability, and human behaviour. Students learn by guiding real groups, planning expeditions, and working on projects that reflect industry challenges.

The studies are full-time and last three and a half years. Teaching is by contact teaching on campus in Rovaniemi and outdoors, with online tools and materials used in some parts. The programme includes team work, independent study, practical training in working life, and a thesis project. Lapland UAS says students may study abroad and can complete practical training abroad.

The programme is designed for students who want to work in international outdoor careers. Lapland UAS says students can also receive certification as a Green exercise outdoor guide during the studies.
