This Bachelor of Engineering in Machine Learning and Data Engineering focuses on machine learning, data engineering, programming, data analytics and intelligent systems. Lapland UAS describes the programme as a practical course that prepares students to manage, analyse and use data for intelligent solutions.
The degree lasts four years and carries 240 ECTS credits. Studies are divided into core competences and profiling competences. The core studies cover mathematics, programming, data analytics and machine learning, intelligent systems, project management and system development, business and knowledge management, languages and communication skills, professional internships, and research and development. The profiling studies cover cloud-based AI solutions, advanced machine learning techniques, and advanced programming and data integration. The programme includes practical training, research and development studies, elective courses, and real-life assignments with companies and organisations. It is taught in blended mode, with online teaching on weekdays and compulsory on-campus periods once a month for 2-3 days.
Lapland UAS says graduates can apply for further studies at universities in Finland and many higher education institutions worldwide. It also says the degree can lead to roles in technology fields such as machine learning engineer, data scientist, AI specialist, and software developer.
