Xamk’s Bachelor of Engineering in Bioproduct Technology focuses on process technology, especially the use of wood raw material for versatile products. The degree covers circular economy, digital skills, process planning and automation in production. Students also study how natural resources are turned into products such as magazines, textiles, medicines and biofuels.
The programme is organised as full-time contact teaching on the Savonlinna campus and in the Fibre Laboratory, with projects in companies and other organisations. The curriculum is designed for 4 years, and includes 30 ECTS credits of practical training in companies. The bachelor’s thesis is a 15 ECTS-credit development task based on working life needs.
Xamk says graduates can find work in the forest industry, the surrounding machinery and equipment cluster, chemical processing industries and circular economy fields that promote carbon dioxide recovery and replacement of fossil raw materials.
