The Bachelor of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence (Data Engineering) prepares students to use AI, programming and data science in practical ways. The programme covers Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Programming and Software Development. It also includes entrepreneurship, project management, international collaboration and working in multidisciplinary teams.
Studies are divided into basic studies and professional studies. Basic studies orient students to study at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences and cover the theoretical fundamentals, communication, and the language proficiency required by legislation. Professional studies focus on programming, data science and AI, including AI tools and environments, cloud computing, databases, data analytics, statistics, exploratory data analysis, supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning, natural language processing, machine vision and AI in robotics.
The thesis is 15 ECTS and can be research-oriented or action-based. Students work on real-life projects with RoboAI partner companies, and the programme offers international projects, visiting lectures, international study cases, student exchange and practical training abroad. Specialisation is generally selected during the second year.
