About this program

Aalto University’s Master’s Programme in Automation and Electrical Engineering covers autonomous systems, sustainable energy solutions, and smart mobile systems. The programme also focuses on renewable energies and sustainability, distributed and networked power systems, sensing and perceiving the environment, the transition from automation to autonomy, and personal healthcare, wellness and medical instrumentation.

The two-year programme is organised by the School of Electrical Engineering and carries 120 ECTS credits. Students make a Personal Study Plan with an academic advisor. Study combines theoretical lectures and readings, hands-on calculations, exercises, projects, workshops, and laboratory sessions. Some projects are tied to industry.

The programme offers three majors: Control, Robotics and Autonomous Systems; Electrical Power and Energy Engineering; and Electronic and Digital Systems. Aalto University says the degree gives eligibility for scientific postgraduate studies in Finland.
