The Master of Science (Technology) in Computer Science and Engineering (Business Analytics) at the University of Oulu combines business and technology to develop expertise in gathering, analysing and using digital data for decision making, operations and development work. Students study analytics theories and methods, tools and environments for real-life problem solving, simulation and optimisation, dynamics of actions and outcomes, responsible and sustainable business, and the ethics of data gathering, management and analysis. The programme also builds skills in interpreting analysis results, communicating findings and giving recommendations.
The two-year, 120 ECTS programme is taught in English in a blended format. It offers three degree/specialisation paths delivered by two faculties, with the specialisation—and resulting degree—chosen at application. Studies include teamwork and project-based collaboration with external stakeholders, including an extensive Capstone project with companies and other partners. Students complete a Master’s thesis, and the programme prepares them for doctoral studies.
