The master’s programme in Industrial Engineering and Management offers studies in engineering and business administration. It has three majors: Industrial Management, Industrial Systems Analytics, and Strategic Project Management. The programme covers business processes, supply chain management, technology management and innovations, industrial systems design and analytics, lean six sigma, simulation, systems engineering, machine learning, project management tools and techniques, service design, leadership, portfolio management, risk planning and control, and finances.
The programme takes two years and carries 120 ECTS credits. Teaching is in English and uses independent learning, contact teaching and blended teaching. The University of Vaasa says students plan and conduct small research projects that combine theoretical frameworks and empirical studies in companies. The Strategic Project Management major is taught at the Seinäjoki campus and uses on-campus, hybrid and blended learning.
The University of Vaasa says the programme is linked with local business networks and international connections, and that the Strategic Project Management major is backed by a sponsor company network that offers study projects, thesis projects and job placement. The master’s thesis includes literature review, empirical data collection, analysis, and conclusions with theoretical and managerial implications.
