Digital Social Science is a Master of Social Sciences programme at LUT. It combines empirical methods with core social science theories. The programme focuses on using data through a social science approach, with critical evaluation of data from different theoretical perspectives about society and empirical rigour.

The programme covers different methods to collect, process and analyse various types of data. It also develops understanding of contemporary economic, societal and political challenges. Students learn to apply social science theories to interpret empirical results and turn data analysis into evidence-based decisions and insights.

LUT says the skills developed in the programme can be used in roles in the private and public sectors that require data analysis, interpretation of results and the translation of results into organisationally relevant insights.
