Faith, Crises and Existential Wellbeing, Master of Theology

The Master’s Degree Programme in Faith, Crises and Existential Wellbeing is offered by the School of Theology and is part of the subject area Theology of Wellbeing. It is taught entirely in English. The programme studies how people and societies face contemporary challenges, with attention to meaning systems, religious and other beliefs, existential wellbeing, and individual and collective crises.

The curriculum is interdisciplinary. It draws on theological disciplines, the humanities, and the social sciences. The programme combines theory with practice through work-based learning. Applied studies provide expertise in pastoral care and counselling or in a selected NGO field. Finnish-speaking students may also complete applied studies for a post at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland.

The University of Eastern Finland says graduates are prepared for professional roles and doctoral studies that require theological expertise.
