Biomedicine, Master of Science

The Master of Science Programme in Biomedicine is offered by the UEF School of Medicine. It gives students a strong theoretical background in biomedicine and practical training in modern biomedical research methods and techniques. The programme also covers molecular biomedicine, with attention to genome-based diagnostics and personalized treatments.

The degree is a two-year full-time programme of 120 ECTS credits in Molecular Medicine. The studies include mandatory major subject studies, the Master’s thesis project, optional studies, and studies in communication and presentation skills. Teaching includes lectures, exercises, seminars and laboratory practicals, and some teaching events and learning tasks are online.

The second year is mainly devoted to the MSc thesis research project and writing the thesis. The programme is designed to build expertise in planning and carrying out a scientific research project in molecular medicine, analysing and reporting biomedical research data, and working with biomedical information.
