This Master of Health Care in Clinical Optometry gives advanced-level biomedical and specialised ocular sciences. It prepares you to practise clinical optometry independently in the assessment and management of ocular diseases and ocular manifestations of systemic diseases in demanding eye care settings.
The course also covers recognition of ocular signs of systemic disease, multidisciplinary care for patients with chronic and acute conditions, and appropriate referrals. It is organised as flexible, part-time study in clinical biomedicine, clinical optometry and research sciences. Studies include six theory modules, online self-directed learning, four on-campus periods of two to three days, and clinical, hands-on workshops.
Oulu University of Applied Sciences says the thesis is a work-life-oriented clinical research project. It can be completed in the workplace, as a start-up plan, or in an Oamk project.
