Novia University of Applied Sciences Tuition Fee Scholarship

Novia University of Applied Sciences runs these scholarships for fee-paying students and says the admission year determines which scholarship scheme applies. Novia UAS also says it may review and change the scholarship criteria and scheme each year.

For fee-paying students admitted to English degree programmes, Novia UAS offers an early bird scholarship for the first study year if they accept the study place within two weeks of the admission notice. Novia UAS also offers tuition fee scholarships based on a language proficiency certificate in Swedish and/or Finnish and on completed credit points, and a separate retroactive scholarship for students admitted in earlier cohorts who are registered at Novia UAS or have graduated within the academic year in question.

Selection for the credit-point scholarship is based on the stated eligibility conditions. Applicants must have a right to study and be registered as attending, meet the credit-point thresholds for their level of study, and upload a YKI language proficiency certificate with each application. Novia UAS considers only applications that meet the criteria and arrive within the application deadline.

The early bird scholarship is deducted from the first academic year’s tuition fee. The credit-point scholarship can be granted several times for bachelor’s studies and once for master’s studies. For the later-cohort scholarship, Novia UAS grants it retroactively after each academic year. Ukrainian degree students may receive a full scholarship if they provide proof of Ukrainian citizenship, while degree students with a residence permit card based on temporary protection are exempt from tuition fee liability.

• The early bird tuition fee is offered only once per degree programme.
• An applicant who received the early bird tuition fee in a previous application to the same degree programme is not entitled to it again.
• For the credit-point scholarship, the applicant must have a right to study at Novia UAS and be registered as attending.
• The applicant cannot apply if the right to study has ended.
• The required credit points must be completed during ongoing studies at Novia UAS.
• Credit transfer points are considered only if they are completed during ongoing studies at Novia UAS.
• A YKI test certificate from the Finnish National Agency for Education must be uploaded with each application.
• For the credit-point scholarship, the applicant may choose basic, intermediate or advanced YKI level.
• The language test may be taken in Swedish or Finnish.
• Bachelor students must submit a higher-level language test certificate than the one attached to a previous scholarship application each time they apply.
• Bachelor students may mix Swedish and Finnish tests if they can show progression.
• For the later-cohort scholarship, the student must have been admitted in the stated earlier admission cohort and be registered at Novia UAS.
• Fee-paying students who graduated within the relevant academic year may also apply for the later-cohort scholarship.
• For the later-cohort scholarship, studies must proceed according to the study plan and curriculum at a normal pace.
• For the Ukrainian scholarship, the student must be a Ukrainian degree student and submit proof of Ukrainian citizenship.
• For temporary protection, the student must at the start of studies hold a residence permit card based on temporary protection.

1. Check which scholarship scheme applies to your admission cohort.
2. For the early bird scholarship, accept the study place within two weeks of the notice of admission in Studyinfo.
3. For the credit-point scholarship, submit an application during one of the listed application periods.
4. Upload the YKI language proficiency certificate to each scholarship application.
5. For bachelor studies, submit a higher-level language certificate than the one used in the previous application, if applying again.
6. For the later-cohort scholarship, apply between 1 and 15 May using the application form.
7. Wait for the decision after submitting the later-cohort scholarship application.
