The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education is the highest level of academic study in education. It is designed to develop scholars, researchers, lecturers, and educational leaders through advanced research skills, critical thinking, in-depth data analysis, and the ability to generate new knowledge. The programme focuses on educational knowledge, policy, and practice.
Students also develop professional competencies in scholarly publication, conference presentations, academic writing, research ethics, and research project management. The programme includes Research Methodology as a required course. Full-time duration ranges from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 8, and part-time duration ranges from a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 12.
A Master’s degree in Education field (Level 7 Malaysian Qualifications Framework, MQF) as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
Master’s degree (non-education) must undergo prerequisite courses; OR
Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognised by Malaysian government as equivalent to the above requirements.
Achieve Malaysian University English Test (MUET) or any English competency test equivalent to a Low B1 Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
