MEXT University Recommendation Scholarships Overview

Are you aspiring to pursue a Master’s or PhD program in Japan? The Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University offers an exceptional opportunity through the MEXT Scholarship University Recommendation. This scholarship covers 100% of tuition fees and provides a monthly stipend, among other benefits, for international students.

International students can apply for fully financed MEXT University Recommendation Scholarships. Both master’s and PhD degrees are eligible for these awards. 100% of tuition, 144,000 JPY per month for living expenses, and air travel in economy class are all covered by the MEXT University Recommendation Scholarship.

International students may apply for MEXT Scholarship University Recommendation at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), Japan.

Outstanding overseas students who are recommended by APU are given this scholarship.

This scholarship is offered by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) with the goal of boosting global competitiveness and encouraging active exchange between overseas students at Japanese universities.

Outstanding qualifying individuals will automatically be recommended to the scholarship organisation by APU.

MEXT University Recommendation Scholarships Coverage

The MEXT Scholarship University Recommendation offers the following benefits:

• Full tuition coverage (APU Tuition Reduction Scholarship)
• Monthly stipend of 144,000 JPY for living expenses
• Economy class air travel between your home country and APU at the program’s commencement and conclusion
• Mandatory on-campus residence at AP House (APU’s dormitory) for the first year (funding does not cover this).

Eligibility Criteria for MEXT University Recommendation Scholarships

To qualify for the MEXT Scholarship University Recommendation, you must meet the following requirements:

• Proficiency in English or Japanese
• Open to candidates from all countries
• Willingness to study in Japan from overseas
• Non-Japanese nationality with diplomatic relations to Japan
• Born on or after April 2, 1988
• GPA of at least 2.30 on a 3.00 scale from your most recent university
• Exclusions: Active military personnel or military-employed civilians are ineligible
• Arrival in Japan within the specified arrival period by APU
• No previous MEXT scholarship unless you possess more than 3 years of educational research experience post-receiving the prior MEXT scholarship
• No simultaneous application for another MEXT scholarship
• Exclusive recipient status during your APU study period
• Holding a student visa status in Japan

Selection Process
