The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at the University of Santo Tomas is a four-year program offered by the Faculty of Arts and Letters – Department of Journalism. It prepares students to report and analyze news across multiple platforms: print, broadcast, and online. The curriculum is in a liberal arts environment and focuses on knowledge, context, and critical thinking for gathering, examining, and interpreting facts in a digital and networked world.
The program places heavy emphasis on ethical journalism practice and on commitment to truth, guided by the Church’s teachings on Social Communication. The faculty includes academics and industry practitioners, and teaching happens in the classroom and on the field. Students develop skills in reportorial work across media platforms, critical thinking for fact-checking, language and grammar proficiency, numeracy for data-based journalistic pieces, and ethical decision-making in journalism.
