Bachelor of Arts in Economics

The Bachelor of Arts in Economics is designed to train professionals in economic studies to work in the public and private sectors. It covers economic theories, principles, and models related to development issues, natural resources, and socio-economic matters particularly relevant to Somaliland and developing countries. The programme consists of coursework, exams, projects, and a required internship of at least 300 hours, spread over eight semesters in four years. Students also complete foundation courses in English, mathematics, science, Arabic, and Islamic studies in their freshman year, which serves as a gateway to the Bachelor programme. The final year involves a research project in economics.

• Hold a Somaliland GCSE of at least Grade “C”, or its equivalent from a recognized examination body.
• Successfully complete a one-year freshman programme at Amoud University with a GPA of at least 2.00.
• Meet other conditions as specified by the faculty and approved by the Senate.
