Bachelor of Science Honours in Engineering Mechanical Engineering

The B.Sc. Honours in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering at the Open University of Sri Lanka is designed to train engineers for the design, development, and innovation of mechanical systems. Students focus on engineering principles and mechanical engineering work such as designing, analyzing, manufacturing, and maintaining mechanical systems. The curriculum covers Engineering Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Machine Design, Manufacturing Processes, Control Systems, Materials Science, Engineering Mathematics, Industrial Management, Renewable Energy, Nano Technology and Computational Methods.

Learning includes laboratory work, industrial training, and hands-on experience with modern engineering tools. In the final year, students undertake an undergraduate project to apply theoretical knowledge to solve real-world engineering challenges, supporting technical competence, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Admission Requirements:

• Obtained passes in the subjects, Combined Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination, Sri Lanka, in one & the same sitting, or
• Obtained the Advanced Certificate in Science with courses in the disciplines of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, offered by The OUSL, or
• Obtained a minimum three (3) credit (C) passes for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in Cambridge/Edexcel Advanced Level Examination within three years, or
• Obtained an equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate.
