The Bachelor of Engineering Mechanical Engineering Honours at Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIT) focuses on mechanical engineering across design and innovation. It covers system conception, design, manufacturing, maintenance, and management, including applications in micromechanical devices, power-generating turbines, thermal power generation, and air and transport systems. The programme also supports multidisciplinary problem-solving that extends through to biomedical engineering.
Students study through a multi-semester programme with modules such as Statics and Hydrostatics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Mechanical Design I, Manufacturing Processes I, and Industrial Training I. It includes hands-on learning and engineering problem-solving through labs. An individual design or research project is undertaken near the end of the programme. Teaching runs on weekdays at the Malabe Campus.
