Bachelor of Science Honours in Engineering Mechatronics Engineering

The Bachelor of Science Honours in Engineering – Mechatronics Engineering at the Open University of Sri Lanka prepares students to integrate mechanical, electronic, and computer-based technologies for intelligent systems and automation solutions. Students study Engineering Mechanics, Control Systems, Robotics and Automation, Embedded Systems, Microcontrollers and Interfacing, Sensors and Actuators, Signal Processing, Artificial Intelligence in Mechatronics, Manufacturing Systems, Engineering Mathematics, and Industrial Management.

Learning includes laboratory work, industrial training, and exposure to modern engineering tools and simulation software. In the final year, students complete an undergraduate project to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems and develop teamwork skills.

Admission Requirements:

• Obtained passes in the subjects, Combined Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination, Sri Lanka, in one & the same sitting, or
• Obtained the Advanced Certificate in Science with courses in the disciplines of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, offered by The OUSL, or
• Obtained a minimum three (3) credit (C) passes for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in Cambridge/Edexcel Advanced Level Examination within three years, or
• Obtained an equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate.

Exemptions:

• Students with prior academic qualifications beyond standard entry requirements may be eligible for course exemptions based on their learning history.
• Exemption Details: Listed under each study program in the Student Guidebook of the respective academic year.
• Minimum Credits Requirement: Even with exemptions, students must complete OUSL courses and earn a minimum number of credits to qualify for an award.
• How to Apply for Exemptions: If qualifications are not listed in the guidebook, students may apply by submitting a duly completed application form, available for download on the Faculty Webpage.
