About this program

The Master in Civil Engineering (MSE) is a Master of Science FHNW in Engineering with a specialization in Civil Engineering. Students deepen knowledge in a chosen core discipline such as structural design, geotechnics, or traffic route construction, with preparation for expert work and project leadership in civil engineering.

The programme uses a presence learning setup. It has a total scope of 90 ECTS, split into central modules (30 ECTS), a specialization (30 ECTS), and a master thesis (30 ECTS). The specialization includes two specialization projects, plus participation in additional seminars and events at the FHNW campus in Muttenz.

Students can study full-time in three semesters or part-time in five semesters. The programme is offered with instruction in German and English.
