About this program

The Master in Civil Engineering (MSE – Civil Engineering) leads to a Master of Science FHNW in Engineering with a specialization in Civil Engineering. Students deepen knowledge in a chosen core discipline: structural design, geotechnics, or traffic route construction.

The program has three main parts with a total of 90 ECTS: central modules (30 ECTS), a specialization (30 ECTS), and a master’s thesis (30 ECTS). Learning is delivered in person at the FHNW Campus Muttenz, with four specialization tracks and two specialization projects plus seminars and events. Students can study full-time (three semesters) or part-time (five semesters), with part-time allowing additional employment in an engineering office or at the Civil Engineering institute.
