Master in Life Sciences Angewandte Zellbiologie

The Master in Life Sciences (Applied Cell Biology) at FHNW trains students to use applied methods in the laboratory, from single-cell assays and automated cell cultures to high-content screening and complex microphysiological systems. The degree awards a Master of Science in Life Sciences and has 90 ECTS points.

Learning mixes in-person and remote formats. The program runs as 3 semesters full-time or 6 semesters part-time (work-adjacent). Students complete practice-oriented modules that include setting up automated cell culture systems and working with modern microphysiological systems. They also choose modules in areas such as pharmaceutical technology, bioanalytics, and analytical chemistry to build an individual profile.

• Pharmaceutical research and development (for example, drug testing and developing new therapy approaches)
• Work in the biotechnological industry (for example, contributing to the production of biological products or building cell-based production systems)
• Regenerative medicine and tissue engineering (for example, developing and applying cell-based therapies such as stem-cell or tissue cultivation approaches)
• Preclinical research and assay development (for example, establishing test systems using mammalian cells as alternatives in the sense of the 3R principles)
• Academic research institutions (for example, contributing to projects in cell technology, molecular biology, or biomedical analytics)
