The Master of Science in Life Sciences - Chemical Engineering develops practical expertise for designing sustainable, safe, and efficient processes. It combines (bio-)chemistry, pharmaceutical science, and environmental technology with process engineering, safety technology, and sustainability. You also study process development and optimisation, including modelling, scaling, and improving chemical processes.
The programme offers full-time or part-time/work-study study, with onsite and online learning modes. It includes practical thesis work with an eight-month thesis at an industry partner or in the Process Technology Centre. You choose elective modules from areas such as Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry, Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry, and Environmental Technologies, and you complete module groups for the Chemical Engineering specialisation.
Graduates are prepared to design, implement, and operate processes in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies, chemical and process engineering roles, raw materials and circular economy activities, energy and environmental technology, technology start-ups and innovation centres, and consulting and engineering offices. The programme also includes an international option for completing the master thesis abroad or earning a double degree with partner universities.
