SEAMEO SEARCA Graduate Scholarships for PhD Programs (ASEAN Countries)

The SEARCA Graduate Scholarships for PhD Programs fund eligible SEAMEO-member-country applicants to pursue PhD study in agriculture or related sciences, with support including tuition, fees, and other scholar allowances.

• Nationality: SEAMEO member country nationals.
• Employment: regular employees of academic or research institutions or government agencies.
• Age: must not be more than 45 years of age at the time of application for PhD.
• Field of study: specialization must be in agriculture or related sciences.
• Proposed research outcomes: proposed thesis research should contribute to at least one of the following outcomes: increased farmers' income; improved food security and nutrition; greater climate resilience of agricultural systems; empowered farmers, farmer groups, and agricultural stakeholders and their institutions.
• Scholarship-type coverage: check joint scholarship programs to determine the specific degree/s eligible for support.
• Research Scholarship alternative: the SEARCA Research Scholarship allows Southeast Asian nationals from any reputable higher education institutions in the world to apply.

• Thesis/dissertation support

• Stipend for food, lodging, and incidental expenses
• For the Research Scholarship: support for the research activities and dissemination of MS and PhD students

1. Submit the required application documents to the respective Ministry of (Higher) Education during the stated submission window (1 September–31 October 2026).
2. Wait for ministry evaluation and endorsement during the stated period (1–30 November 2026).
3. After being shortlisted and endorsed, upload the same application requirements through the SEARCA iSCHO Portal during the stated upload window (1–31 December 2026).
4. Complete SEARCA documentary evaluation during the stated period (1–15 January 2027).
5. Attend an interview if qualified during the stated interview period (15 January–15 April 2027), which may be conducted in person or online.
6. Results are released starting on the stated release date (31 May 2027) for applicants with university acceptance letters.
