Bachelor of Journalism Mass Communication

The Bachelor of Journalism & Mass Communication equips students with knowledge and skills for the media and communication industry. Students study print, broadcast, digital, and new media, with theoretical foundations plus practical work in reporting, editing, public relations, and media management. Learning outcomes include producing accurate content across print, broadcast, and digital platforms, applying media theories in practice, and conducting research and analysis to support reporting and media campaigns.

The course runs for 3 years and includes practical training through internships and practical projects. It is structured across three years with modules that cover areas such as media history and issues, research methods, journalism production for radio and television, advertising and media planning, and news writing and reporting. Study mode is Day/Weekend, with intake in January/August.

• Direct Entry: Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least 2 principal passes, including a relevant subject such as English, Literature, or Humanities
• Diploma Entry: Relevant diploma in mass communication, journalism, or a related field (Upper Second or Credit), recognized by NCHE
• Mature Age Entry: A minimum score of 50% in a recognized Mature Age Entry Examination
• International Applicants: Secondary school completion equivalent to Uganda’s A-Level; Academic documents must be equated where necessary; Proof of English proficiency if prior education was not in English
