Bachelor of Science Honours in Software Engineering

The Bachelor of Science Honours in Software Engineering at Africa University is an undergraduate program in the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering and Computer Science. Students study web development, problem solving techniques, calculus, principles of programming languages, digital electronics, critical thinking, logic and problem solving, and object oriented software development. The programme also includes study in software engineering, discrete structures, computers and modern society, theory of computing, and business communication.

Learning is delivered full time at the main campus. The programme structure includes modules such as software engineering 1, object oriented programming, operating systems, requirements engineering, software testing and quality assurance, and a software project management module. Students also complete industrial attachment I, industrial attachment report, industrial attachment II, and a research project. Later modules include a capstone project, data mining and business intelligence, and cloud infrastructure and services.

Graduates can pursue roles such as Computer and Information Scientist (Research), Network Architect, Information Security Manager, Architect (Computer Software, Hardware), Senior Database Administrator, Information Security Engineer, Security Consultant (Computing/Networking/IT), Senior Quality Assurance/Test Automation Engineer, Project Manager, Information Technology (IT), Senior Systems Engineer.
