Bachelor of Arts Honours in Gender and Cultural

The Bachelor of Arts Honours in Gender and Cultural Studies at Africa University is an undergraduate full-time programme designed to help students understand how gender and culture shape individuals and communities, and how they are shaped by them. Students study gender and its intersection with categories of analysis and identity including race, sexuality, class, disability, nationality, and gender roles across historical periods and in different cultural contexts.

The programme includes Cultural Studies, grounded in critical theory, and focuses on cultural debates and how concepts of culture apply to everyday life. It supports interpretations of literary texts from various historical periods, including the present, and examines how meaning is generated, disseminated, and produced through practices, beliefs, institutions, and political, economic, or social structures within a culture.

At least two GCE Advanced level passes or a relevant Diploma

5 ‘O’ level passes at grade “C” or better including English.
