Graduate Diploma in Education

The Graduate Diploma in Education at Africa University helps you prepare to teach in your subject area and design learning experiences for secondary school needs, including curriculum, assessment, and reporting. You also study educational psychology, measurement and evaluation, general methods of instruction, school organisation, research methods, and the philosophy and history of education.

The programme is delivered part time at the Main Campus over 2 year(s). It includes instructional technology and information technology, curriculum development and content methods of teaching, plus a project in education and teaching practice for secondary students.

To register for the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), a candidate must satisfy the usual entry requirements for a programme as stipulated in the University registration rules. English and Mathematics (variable) at O’ Level are compulsory subjects and should normally have been obtained with a minimum grade “C”. In addition to the above, applicants to the programme must possess a minimum of a pass in a first degree in at least one teaching subject from Africa University or any other university recognised by Africa University.

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not necessarily ensure admission. Admission is based on the number of places available and is awarded on the basis of merit. The College of Social Sciences, Theology, Humanities and Education reserves the right to interview candidates before admission.
