The Master of Education Degree in Chemistry and Applied Technologies is a postgraduate programme focused on Chemistry Education. Students study Chemistry teaching and learning, research, and the wider areas of pedagogical issues, and research and innovation. Coursework combines education research and statistics with advanced chemistry topics such as Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Synthetic Organic Chemistry, and Chemical Instrumentation and Analytical Techniques.
The programme runs for 1½ years and has a total credit load of 324 credits, with a minimum of 270 credits and a maximum of 330 credits. Modules include Advanced Research Methods and Statistics, ICT in educational environments, curriculum and pedagogical issues in chemistry education, measurement and evaluation in chemistry education, and topics such as Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, and Sustainable Industrial and Environmental Chemistry. The Dissertation is carried out over two semesters and is supervised.
Normal Entry: BSc Education, Bachelor of Education, or BSc with Post Graduate Diploma in Education, Graduate Diploma in Education, Grad CE, PGDTE or equivalent from accredited and recognized institutions.
