The Master of Science Degree in Environmental Chemistry (Mech) at Midlands State University trains students to address environmental and industrial challenges through resource management, impact prediction, and cleanup of past contaminated sites using problem-solving. The programme covers core areas including Introduction to Environmental Chemistry, Aquatic Chemistry, Environmental Analytical Chemistry, Health, Safety and Environment, and Practical I.
Teaching and assessment combine taught modules with practical work and research. Students take Research Methods and Statistics, Atmospheric Chemistry, Environmental Toxicology, Green Chemistry, and Practical II. Level 2 includes Modelling in Environmental Chemistry, Pollution Control in Chemical Industry, Environmental Pollution Risk Management, Environmental Soil Chemistry, Practical III, and culminates in a Dissertation (research project with proposal, progress report, final dissertation, and oral presentations).
