The Master of Science Degree in Organic Chemistry (MOCH) prepares graduates for employment, research, and innovation in industry, universities, and research institutes. Students study the structure, properties, and reactions of organic compounds, alongside skills to address complex issues systematically and creatively. The programme also includes research methods, statistics, and a team-based major project reported in written and oral form.
Teaching includes laboratory practice and modules covering organic reaction mechanisms, modern organic synthesis, and organic spectroscopy. Students study separation and purification methods, multistep synthesis of organic compounds, and spectroscopy topics such as UV-Visible, Infrared, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, and Mass Spectrometry. The programme culminates in a Dissertation module described as a research project with proposal, progress report, final dissertation, and oral presentations.
