Master of Technology Degree in Chemical Engineering Process and Plant Design

The Master of Technology Degree in Chemical Engineering Process and Plant Design at Harare Institute of Technology prepares students to use plant and process design engineering fundamentals in industry. Students study process utility systems, chemical reactor analysis and design, advanced process control, advanced mathematics in chemical engineering, design of pressure vessels, and piping systems for chemical plants. The programme also includes heat and mass transfer equipment design, process design and economics, and seminar work.

Learning includes applied research methods and a computer-aided design lab, plus pinch technology. Students develop skills in management perspectives and project management, water and land pollution control plant design, and safety in process engineering, alongside an industry project. Teaching uses theoretical and practical work, including industry-oriented theoretical and practical curriculum. Students use plant and process design software such as COMOS FEED, MATLAB, and Design Expert.
