Bachelor's in Environmental Studies

Environmental Studies is a Bachelor program taught at Bates College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Program in Environmental Studies at Bates College prepares students with knowledge, skills, and ethical sensibilities to engage with local-to-global human-environment relationships. Courses draw on natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities to examine the cultural, political, scientific, creative, and ethical aspects of environmental questions, using a social justice approach to address social-ecological issues.

Students use qualitative analysis software to build skills in ethnographic methods and thematic coding, and they develop focused knowledge and familiarity with methodological tools. Environmental issues are explored through community-engaged coursework in urban, rural, and coastal settings, and students design and pilot teaching materials for high school and college level students.
