Bachelor's in Literature
Introduction
Literature is a Bachelor program taught at Bennington College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The Literature major at Bennington College is built around the idea that good writers are good readers. Students study a broad range of literary works and styles from antiquity to the present through small seminars centered on animated discussion. Faculty who are novelists, memoirists, poets, literary journalists, and translators invite students to share a writer’s perspective and to connect writing with critical thinking, analytical reading, scholarly writing, literary translation, and creative writing.
Students develop their course content through a Plan they design with faculty, using resources inside and outside the classroom. Literature Evenings take place in a student house living room and include bi-weekly readings by distinguished guest writers, students, and faculty. Poetry at Bennington brings poets to campus for multi-day residencies. The annual winter Field Work Term gives firsthand experience in publishing, journalism, and literary magazines.
