Introduction
Photography is a Bachelor program taught at Bennington College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Photography at Bennington College gives an introduction to both analog and digital opportunities. Students take courses that cover thematic topics, study photography’s history from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, and explore genres of the medium. The curriculum also looks at intersections with other artistic practices, supported by studio photography classes that combine creative production with readings and historical research.
Studio photography instruction includes technical hands-on work. Students can borrow both film and digital equipment, and use facilities such as a lighting studio, a black-and-white film darkroom with 7 enlarging stations, an alternative processes lab, and a digital lab with 12 workstations. Facilities also include a 44-inch-wide-format inkjet printer, and courses draw on photo archives in Crossett Library and nearby museum collections.
