Introduction
Chemistry is a Bachelor program taught at Boston College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Boston College’s Chemistry major offers a flexible curriculum for students who want to acquire knowledge of chemistry within the environment of a liberal arts college. The major requires ten 1-semester Chemistry courses plus five co-requisite courses from other departments. Students study General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Advanced Methods in Chemistry, with laboratory courses included.
The Chemistry major curriculum totals 37 credits in the ten 1-semester Chemistry courses, and 22 credits in the co-requisite courses. Chemistry labs pair with the corresponding lecture sequences, including General Chemistry Laboratory and Organic Chemistry Laboratory. Students planning for graduate school in Chemistry are advised to seek guidance from a faculty member.
For the degree to be certified by the American Chemical Society, Boston College states that one additional 3-credit CHEM course at the 3000 level or higher is required. The department also states that taking one semester of research for credit can fulfill this requirement if the student prepares a comprehensive and well-documented written research report.
