Introduction

Economics is a Bachelor program taught at Boston College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Boston College offers an Economics major structured around introductory, intermediate theory, and econometrics. Students take Principles of Economics (ECON 1101) and Statistics (ECON 1151), then complete Microeconomic Theory (ECON 2201 or ECON 2203) and Macroeconomic Theory (ECON 2202 or ECON 2204). The program also includes Econometric Methods (ECON 2228) and a set of electives.

The major includes six electives chosen from ECON2200-ECON4498. At least four of the six electives must be upper level 3000+ electives. Economics electives are taught in two formats: a traditional lecture format with enrollments up to 50, and a smaller writing-intensive format with enrollments capped at 20 to 25 depending on the size of the writing component. Some requirements depend on completing a calculus prerequisite before intermediate theory and econometrics.
