English
Introduction
English is a Bachelor program taught at Boston College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Boston College’s undergraduate English major and minor build fundamental skills in close reading, literary analysis, and critical thinking through a wide range of courses. English students study major developments in British, American, anglophone, and multicultural literatures, exploring essential human issues through multiple periods, cultures, and approaches.
The Literature Core and First-Year Writing Seminar provide the foundation for future study in the liberal arts. Students can shape a customizable program and receive advising from scholars and writers. English also supports interdisciplinary work through concentrations that include American Studies, Asian American Studies, Creative Writing, Irish Studies, Journalism, and the Medical Humanities.
Boston College also offers English Language Learning (ELL) for undergraduate students from linguistically diverse backgrounds. During the first year, students can take a linked sequence of two English courses that fulfill core requirements, and a trained specialist can provide weekly individualized language support for students in ENGL 1009 and 1079 sections.
