Bachelor's in Engineering Physics
Introduction
Engineering Physics is a Bachelor program taught at Hampden-Sydney College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Engineering Physics Major at Hampden-Sydney College is supported by Physics and Astronomy faculty who teach in modern facilities and work across fields including astronomy, astrophysics, superconductivity, physical acoustics, condensed matter, nuclear physics, digital electronics, and computational physics. Students can also work with a college observatory and with projects tied to astronomy classes, student research projects, and community observation.
The program includes pathways that combine engineering and physics study. One option is a dual-degree program with Old Dominion University, where students first declare a major at Hampden-Sydney College for the first three years and transfer to Old Dominion University for the final two (or two and one-half) years. Another option is early admission, through an agreement with Christopher Newport University, for selected students to a Master of Science in Applied Physics and Computer Science.
Admission Requirements
The minimum requirements for admission in Engineering Physics at Hampden-Sydney College for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:
- program specific academic requirment set by Hampden-Sydney College.
- English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Hampden-Sydney College as pre-requiste for admission in Engineering Physics.
Note: Please check the university website in the link below.
For the dual-degree program with Old Dominion University, dual-degree students must complete the prescribed courses with a minimum 2.7 grade point average and a C or better in all applicable courses during the first three years at Hampden-Sydney College. Dual-degree students then complete the transfer admissions application to Old Dominion University and must meet all other admission requirements at Old Dominion University.
- Minimum GPA: 2.7
- Grade requirement: a C or better in all applicable courses
- Transfer admissions: complete the transfer admissions application to Old Dominion University and meet all other admission requirements at Old Dominion University
For early admission to Christopher Newport University’s Master of Science in Applied Physics and Computer Science, final acceptance is contingent on graduating from Hampden-Sydney with a 3.0 or greater GPA and having met the program’s admissions standards and academic prerequisites, as specified by the Christopher Newport Graduate Studies Catalog.
