Introduction

Instrumentation is a program taught at Kenai Peninsula College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Instrumentation at Kenai Peninsula College focuses on industrial process instrumentation: managing, maintaining, and optimizing equipment used to monitor and control complex engineering systems and processes. Students study how instrumentation supports automatic control in settings such as refineries, chemical plants, pipelines, oil and gas production facilities, and food processing facilities. The program includes learning technologies such as programmable logic controllers (PLC) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA).

Instruction is delivered at the Kenai River Campus for the program-specific courses, which are held in KPC’s Career and Technical Education Center. General classes required for the degree can be taken through any campus or online. The program is built with collaboration with industry, and KPC lists campus interviews with companies for internships and entry-level positions.

The program leads to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Industrial Process Instrumentation. KPC also offers a dual degree option: Industrial Process Instrumentation and Process Technology. Completion planning requires meeting with an academic advisor for proper course sequencing and selection to finish in the shortest time possible.
