Introduction

Art History with Museum Studies is a Bachelor program taught at Niagara University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Art History with Museum Studies program at Niagara University combines the scholarly study of art, culture, and museums with professional work through on-campus museum engagement. Students study art history and museum theory and practice across areas such as Gothic, Indigenous, Latin America, Renaissance, Postmodern, and more. The program also builds skills to critically analyze visual culture and understand how art connects to cultural histories.

Students complete 120 credits, including 36 credits in Art History with Museum Studies (AHM) courses. Courses include two classes focused on the museum exhibition process, where students also support marketing and event and programming planning. Many seated courses are taught in the classroom of the Castellani Art Museum, supporting direct engagement with the museum’s Permanent Collection works and special exhibitions.

The program includes opportunities for museum internships through the Castellani Art Museum and other area museums and cultural institutions. Students can pursue independent studies through a senior seminar capstone project or a departmental honors thesis. Graduates complete an in-depth study of art history while gaining hands-on experience in museum operations and art exhibitions.
