Artificial Intelligence, Master of Science

Artificial Intelligence, Master of Science at the University of Jyväskylä covers the professional use of already developed AI models, algorithms and tools to solve complex problems. It also covers the design and development of new AI methods, algorithms and tools.

The course offers two directions of study. One focuses on the advanced use of available AI methods, algorithms and tools as black boxes in different domains and businesses. The other focuses on inventing, designing and developing new advanced AI methods, algorithms and tools with a deep understanding of how they work.

The programme lasts two years and is taught through contact teaching. The Master’s Thesis is worth 30 ECTS credits. The thesis and thesis seminar are designed to develop scientific thinking and working methods and to support a research project and report. The thesis may also be completed in collaboration with industry. The faculty has strong collaboration with industry at local and national level, and the majority of Master’s theses are completed with industry.
