Bachelor of Natural Resources Professional Horticulture Full Time Studies

Bachelor of Natural Resources in Professional Horticulture at Häme University of Applied Sciences is a 240-credit degree taught in English at Lepaa campus. The programme covers horticulture as the cultivation, selling and marketing of plants, vegetables, fruits and mushrooms. Students study horticulture from technical and biological points of view, with business subjects such as cost calculations, entrepreneurial working, marketing, and developing businesses and commerce in the field. They also learn to innovate new products and services.

The degree is delivered as full-time contact lessons over 4 years. It is organised into core competence studies, profiling competence studies, work placement and a thesis. The work placement is divided into two periods of 15 credits: one in a company in the field and one in a rural expert position. The thesis is a 15-credit development or research project at the end of the studies.

HAMK says the programme is for students who want to build expertise in horticulture and that it leads to employment in commerce, counselling, education and administration. Typical employers are companies, cities and associations.
