About this program

The Bachelor of Engineering in Sustainable Urban Design at Häme University of Applied Sciences focuses on urban environments, mobility, infrastructure and data in urban design. Students learn to design environmentally friendly, equitable, economically viable and environmentally sustainable cities and transport systems. The programme also covers artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, data analysis, data modelling, data visualisation and service design.

Teaching uses lectures, group work coached by teachers, independent online study, games, simulations and other digital tools. Students apply what they learn in hands-on projects, internships and a thesis, often commissioned by HAMK’s industry and business partners. The degree programme also collaborates with the city of Riihimäki to support learning in sustainable urban design.

Students can specialise in sustainable mobility service, sustainable urban infrastructure, or data technologies in urban planning, management and maintenance. The programme includes work placement and a thesis.
