Photonics is a two-year Master of Science (Technology) programme at the University of Eastern Finland. It covers optics, light and light-matter interaction, and photonics applications in communications, healthcare, imaging, sensing, manufacturing, quantum applications, smart lighting, space technology, defence, life sciences and medical innovation.
The degree is 120 ECTS credits and combines courses and laboratory practices with a master’s thesis. Teaching is in English and the mode of delivery is contact teaching. The structure includes general studies, core courses, laboratory practices, advanced topics on waves and scattering, light and matter, and special topics on displays, colours and applications.
