Structural Engineer MSc

The Structural Engineer MSc at Budapest University of Technology and Economics is an MSc in structural engineering with a duration of 1.5 years. The degree includes three specializations: Numerical Modelling, Structures, and Geotechnics and Geology. Students study fundamental sciences such as Mathematics, Physics, and Numerical Methods, and structural engineering sciences based on specializations.

Teaching is organized with obligatory core subjects and specialization subjects, plus optional subjects. The curriculum includes advanced structural engineering skills (specialization) for the Structures pathway in Nuclear Power Plants. Students also complete a Master Thesis Project as a 20-credit master thesis. The programme has three semesters and totals 90 ECTS.

Admission includes pre-evaluation of the submitted documents: quality of BSc diploma, BSc transcript, obtained credits in the field of structural engineering. Additional evaluated aspects include quality of motivation letter and extra-curricular activities (e.g. involvement in education, research, publication activities, technical contests, additional language skills, etc.) if required: electronic written admission test and/or electronic interview.

• Plan, construct, maintain, and operate structural engineering facilities.
• Carry out technical development, research, management, and project management tasks related to structural engineering facilities.
• Design and specialize in complex and special engineering facilities.
• Apply analytical and numerical procedures of static and dynamic analysis of structures.
• Coordinate and manage construction, maintenance, and operation tasks in structural engineering.
• Recognize and understand problems in structural construction, formulate expert opinions, and develop solution strategies.
