Gender Equality Seal for Public Institutions Communications intern at UNDP

Context of the Internship:

UNDP is actively addressing the imperative of gender equality through its Gender Equality Seal for
Public Institutions program, based in Istanbul, Turkey. This six-month internship opportunity, commencing on March 11, 2024, seeks to engage individuals in contributing to the UNDP Gender Equality Strategy 2022-2025. Focused on dismantling gender inequalities and empowering women globally, the program aims to equip public institutions with the tools to champion gender-responsive policies.

The internship, positioned within the Gender Team, concentrates on communication and outreach, playing a vital role in elevating the Gender Equality Seal for Public Institutions as a key player in advancing gender equality in public administration worldwide. Ideal candidates, in their final year of a Bachelor’s or enrolled in a Master’s program, are encouraged to apply. Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in French and/or Spanish is advantageous.

The selected intern will support activities such as newsletter development, blog post creation, and managing social media campaigns. Furthermore, responsibilities extend to supporting knowledge management by monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and documenting good practices. Travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses are to be managed by the sponsoring institution, related organization, government, or the intern.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Under the overall guidance of the Global Manager for the Gender Equality Seal for Public Institutions, the intern will contribute to the following duties:

  1. Assist in Implementing Communication and Outreach:
    • Create a bimonthly Seal newsletter, distributing it through UNDP email groups, social networks, and participating public institutions.
    • Generate weekly blog posts highlighting activities under the Seal, or other relevant topics for publication on the GES online platform blog.
    • Aid in the content development of the Seal Sparkblue Page.
    • Assist in organizing and executing communication campaigns on social media, tracking their impact and results.
    • Contribute to the development of pitches, presentations, key messages, social media cards, or any other related products.
    • Manage the Seal webpage by updating content and identifying potential improvements.
    • Support in organizing global online events such as trainings, forums, and community of practice exchanges.
  2. Support Seal Implementation and Knowledge Management:
    • Assist in updating the monitoring of Seal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
    • Prepare notes on good practices and lessons learned.
    • Engage in graphic design for creating simple documents.

Required Skills and Experience:

Education: Candidates should meet one of the following educational criteria:

  • Currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree
  • Graduated no more than 1 year ago from a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent studies

Field of study: Communications, Journalism, International Development, Gender Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.

Language:

  • Proficiency in English is essential.
  • Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is a significant advantage.

Conditions: Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, passports, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of either:

  • The sponsoring institution, related organization, or Government, which may offer financial assistance to its students.
  • The intern.
