The Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the University of Santo Tomas prepares students for jobs that require research and analytical skills in the public or corporate sector. It also supports students who want to pursue advanced graduate degrees in economics, or further studies in law, management, finance, international relations, and other related fields.
The BA program focuses on economic theory and its application, with skills for economic analysis. It uses fewer major Economics courses and more liberal arts, including humanities, other social sciences, and foreign languages. The curriculum includes research methods and a thesis sequence, with modules such as Economic Research, Econometrics (with Laboratory), and Thesis Writing 1(Thesis Proposal). The program includes student support services that transitioned from campus units to online services when learning shifted to distance learning.
