Bachelor of Arts Honours in English and Communication

The Zimbabwe Open University Bachelor of Arts Honours in English and Communication combines English studies with communication and language-focused modules. Students take compulsory units such as Theories of Communication and New Media Technologies, Communication Skills, Introduction to Linguistics, Literary Criticism, Organisational Communication, English for Specific Purposes, Zimbabwean Literature, Theories of Literature, and Linguistics and Literature. Optional units include areas such as African cultures and heritage topics, discourse analysis, public relations communication, and sociolinguistics.

The programme is organised into academic years and semesters, with compulsory study across each stage. Work Integrated Learning appears in Academic Year 3 across two semesters, and students complete research project modules in Academic Year 4. The course also includes reading, writing, and communication-related modules across different semesters, alongside electives chosen within the listed options.
